I always recommend that you just be yourself! If someone in your group is not comfortable in their clothing it will show in your images. Some sessions we recommend 1 outfit, some more than one. Always reach out to me – I LOVE helping with wardrobe selection and matching! It is super fun for me to video call or snap photos back and forth to go shopping in your closet – or while you are out new clothing shopping!
Do I get the digital images?
Digital images are one of the products I offer at your Session Reveal – although I feel they are an unfinished product which is a disservice to your long-lasting memories. Where will your memories be when the digital world changes? What happened with floppy disks? Digital collections come in two seperate sizes. Low resolution which is printable upt o 4x6 size, and high resolution which is printable to 8x10 size.
When do you do sessions?
99% of our sessions are booked for Monday through Thursday. The best time to have your session is early morning and evening around sunset! The biggest time to avoid for your sessions or outdoor photography is 11-2, due to the sun being directly overhead which creates shadows – like raccoon eyes, and that’s not cute.
How do I view my images?
After every session is completely edited and finalized we schedule your Session Reveal / Ordering Party! At this time, we reveal all of your final images – and you decide what is going where. It’s always best to have an idea of what you want to do with your images, even before the session. Are we making an annual family album, are we creating your very own wall collage, or are we creating a personalized box to store images to flip through? These choices are just a few of the many things that can be done to preserve your memories.
What type of training or education do you have?
So many different things! So first I started with college experience and worked my way through my BFA (Bachelor’s in Fine Art – Photography) at University Missouri St Louis. This was a great place to start, because I learned the technical side of things, the what-if’s and how-to’s, and to think on my feet in case something may go awry. Every year, I continue my education and go to national conferences where I learn from the leading educators and photographers not only over the US, but worldwide. It is so amazing getting to see an insight into their styles, knowledge and being able to mix and mingle with the best of the best.
How long does it take to get my products?
Product turnaround does vary; while most items take only 2-3 weeks, some items that require more processing (i.e. albums) take more customization and care. Once you have approved final revisions, they can take up to 4 weeks. Need something sooner? That’s OKAY! Just let me know and we can handle a RUSH order for you, as well.
Do you have a second shooter?
The simple answer is yes. For every wedding event, there are two photographers included. I am ALWAYS the primary photographer (trust me, I would have to be in the hospital to miss a wedding – just ask me about my knee injury and 10-hour wedding day). The majority of the time my second-in-command is my Hubby – Aaron. If he happens to be unavailable, I do have hand selected assistants that are on call and ready for action. These select individuals know my style, my requirements and high level of expectations for every session.
What types of sessions do you shoot?
I have knowledge of many types of sessions; but I specialize in weddings, families, and newborns
How far in advance should I book?
Wedding dates book anywhere up to 24 months beforehand, on average. Sessions for engagement, family, children, etc. can book as short as 1-4 weeks out depending on the season. Fall months book up fast. I try to squeeze everyone in if at all possible, so still submit an inquiry. (What’s sleep?)
What types of products can I order?
We offer a variety of products for your home! We can custom create your wall art on metal, canvas, or archival prints. We can also create gorgeous albums, and even a custom memory box you can place your images inside of for storage and display purposes. Many of our clients also choose to ADD-ON a USB for their digital images as backup and for social media use.
Why are photographers so expensive?
To keep this as short as I can – photography is an investment. Many things go into the pricing of photography. For instance, you may be looking at an 8-10-hour wedding, event but there is easily 20-30 hours of prep and communication pre-wedding. There is also your engagement session, processing images from those, along with your session reveal from the engagement session. Then you are also looking at the actual wedding day--- travel and road time both ways. Finally, post-wedding processing, on average, takes 40 hours. Album and wall art creation and another photo reveal party to see everything are also included in the pricing.
So not only is there a time investment to it, there is also a monetary investment. Many wedding photographers have tens of thousands of dollars in equipment. In addition, small business fees such as insurances, taxes, annual dues, and continuing education of the photographer are all included in the calculations. Photographers also need to make a living wage at the end of the day.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all forms of payment, but plastic is the most common. The majority of our clients use our online back office to login to their private, secure account to process their own payments with Visa/Mastercard/Discover/Amex.
Do you offer payment plans?
We do offer payment plans for sessions and product. Sessions have a retainer fee to lock in your date and the remaining balance is due prior to the booked date (Weddings 30 days prior, regular sessions 1 day prior) Product payment plans most are offered in 30/60/90-day time ranges with various payment intervals.
How would you describe your style?
My style is light and airy, but BRIGHT. I love color. I am a huge fan of creative edge. It is rare you would find black and white images unless something really speaks to me. I also love posing everyone to make sure they are in cohesive and flattering positions. Then I break up the formal pose and then unpose you for my trademark images filled with genuine laughs, smiles, and emotions.
